Pulses Within
Opening
18.10.2025 — 18h
DS Galerie is pleased to present “Pulses Within”, the new solo show by Xolo Cuintle in the main space of the gallery in Paris. This exhibition follows “Chloroplast Machinery”, their first institutional solo exhibition, presented at CAP Saint-Fons in June 2025.
Opening on October 18, from 6 to 10 pm.
With “Pulses Within”, the duo Xolo Cuintle transforms the gallery’s surface into a living membrane. Through a series of concrete sculptures and bas-reliefs, the artists unfold hybrid, breathing forms: entomological ventilation systems, organo-industrial growths, porous interfaces between bodies, species, and machines.
Surfaces—whether walls, floors, plinths, or objects—are never closed. They open in places, lift, collapse, revealing what lies beneath: materials, forms, and flows that belong as much to the biological as to the mechanical. Beneath an aseptic appearance, the space reveals an underground, entangled, multisystemic life.
Concrete and stoneware here become fertile ground, a geological skin traversed by respiratory mechanisms and symbioses. “Pulses Within” blurs the boundaries between the artificial and the natural, between décor and the biological, between myth and anticipation.
In a singular sculptural language, Xolo Cuintle conjures a multicellular and interconnected world, where each cell, stem, pipe, or ornament becomes a vector of exchange. The exhibition space, usually neutral, is activated here as a living organism—at once décor, body, and ground.
Xolo Cuintle is a duo formed by Romy Texier (1995, United States) and Valentin Vie Binet (1996, France), graduates of the École Duperré and former residents at the Manufacture des Gobelins (2019–2020). They live and work in Paris. Their work has been presented in France and internationally, both in galleries and institutions: at the Collection Lambert (2024), CAC Brétigny (2024), in a solo exhibition at CAP Saint-Fons (2025), and in the Berserk & Pyrrhia program of the FRAC Île-de-France (2025), with exhibitions at Le Plateau, Les Réserves, the Musée Bossuet, and the Musée de Cluny. Their works are part of major collections such as KADIST and the CNAP. In November 2025, the City of Paris will inaugurate a public commission entrusted to the duo for a bas-relief. More info
